Gerry Ryan's son Rex bids to be centre stage

Rex Ryan, the 23-year old son of Gerry Ryan, is in a production in Smock Alley

WHILE sister Lottie wants to follow their late father in broadcasting, Rex Ryan is eyeing up a career in stage and film.

The son of deceased RTE DJ Gerry Ryan told the Irish Independent that he wants to "do it all" in acting.

The 23-year-old, who is a final year drama student at the Gaiety School of Acting, is currently on stage at Smock Alley as part of the Collaborations Festival.

He is starring in 'The Park', a self-composed play by his production company, Monkey Backstage.

"I'm really happy with how it's gone and it has sold out so far," he said.

This is not the first time that the Dubliner has braved the acting world.

He starred in This Club's music video 'Up' with Tipperary-born model Roz Purcell.

"I want to do it all . . . we have a great tradition (in Ireland)," he said.

'The Park' runs until this weekend.
