The South Dublin Region will fill a real gap early next month by staging the first Dublin Summer Congress at Citywest Hotel, Saggart - a really excellent venue from all points of view.
So many Dublin events have been shelved in recent years that we were down to just one until this year, when the Regent held an anniversary congress.
Dun Laoghaire is gone, CRC is gone, Ballyroan is gone, North Dublin is gone - leaving just the Bankers in March.
With prize money amounting to over €9,000 this should be a real winner. It starts on July 3, and the programme is as per usual with congress pairs on the Saturday and teams at 11am on the final day.
Any information required can be found on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Here is a hand you would think the flattest hand of the day. You would be very wrong.
Once again, it's from the IBU pairs final.

"Ah, but we only have 27 HCP. That's not enough for slam," I heard. Look at the distribution. Two singletons and a massive two-suited fit.
I would have sympathy for those in 6C, which is slightly better than 6S, but there is nothing to the play in either slam.
