Ghost Games has no plans for paid Need for Speed DLC
Ghost Games says that it currently has no plans for paid Need for Speed DLC. The developer will release a series of free updates for the title.
Need for Speed will arrive on consoles in November, and it looks like one payment is all you’ll need to enjoy everything it will have to offer.
Ghost Games said that it currently has no plans for paid downloadable content. Instead, the developer is committed to releasing “a series of free content updates for Need for Speed.”
The inclusion of the word “currently” could be crucial; there may be paid DLC down the line if those plans change, but at least fans are being promised a number of free content updates.
Need for Speed will require a persistent internet connection. The developer wants to be able to offer “an ongoing experience that is constantly changing and evolving.” But you won’t need an Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus subscription to play the solo mode.
Ghost Games also shared information about the title’s visuals. The game will run at 30fps on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In the FAQ, the developer said that this ensures “that your gameplay experience remains incredibly smooth and allows you to experience the high speed, adrenaline fuelled gameplay that you've come to expect from the Need for Speed series."
There are also no plans to include splitscreen play as it wanted to “maximise the visual fidelity of the game with the focus given to the full screen experience."
Need for Speed will be released on November 5th on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PC version will follow in spring 2016, though it will feature an unlocked framerate.
