Nom-Con is running this weekend and Independent.ie went to sample the odd energy that builds up before the start of an anime convention.

When we arrived, staff were lined up, ready and eager to get to work. Every member of staff is a volunteer and the weekend is as much about fun as it is about work.

We were given a tour of the trade hall -  not due to open until Saturday - and allowed roam about the empty games rooms. Every where we went, a subtle giddiness was detectable. Months of hard work was about to come to fruition.

A quick discussion among organisers resulted in a decision to exclusively reveal the Cosplay prize to Independent.ie

Winners of this year's Nom-Con Cosplay competition will win a spot at the Cosplay Academy in Lithuania. The event will feature cosplayers from all over Europe and this is the first time Ireland has been a part, so the Nom-Con team are very excited.

Nom-Con runs all weekend and tickets are still available to buy at the door.
