Competitive gaming team could be sold for more than $500,000
Team Dignitas' League of Legends team is on the market, and the organisation has already received bids in excess of $500,000.
Team Dignitas currently has a European and North American League of Legends team. The European team recently qualified to compete in the League Championship Series, a tournament that the American side of the team has competed in since 2013.
Riot’s rules stipulate that professional gaming organisations may only field one LCS team. So that is why owner Michael O'Dell is putting a team up for sale.
O’Dell said that he is taking offers for both the EU and North American teams, but will only sell one of them. He said that the decision about which team to sell, and to whom, will be based on more than money.
He said that the quality of the offer, and "whether he can trust the people behind them to operate a successful team” will also influence his final decision.
Bids have already surpassed $500,000, and O’Dell said, "it's a nice problem to have." The UK-based organisation will continue to accept offers until the end of September.
