E3 2015: Bethesda announces Dishonored 2
Sequel to stealth hit has a second playable character and a new coastal setting
Bethesda officially announced a sequel to its hit 2012 stealth adventure Dishonored at their inaugural E3 showcase.
Dishonored 2 will follow the story of the previous game’s assassin, Corvo Attano, and Empress Emily Kaldwin, a character from the first game who is now playable. You can choose who to play as at the outset of the game, and each character has their own unique abilities.
The heroes are leaving the plagued city of Dunwall behind for Karnaca, a ‘dazzling coastal city’. A reveal trailer showed an altogether more colourful game that the first, as Emily swept across the rooftops of a gorgeous but troubled steampunk world using an organic grappling hook. The game is set for release in 2016.
Bethesda also revealed that it will be re-releasing the first game for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this year. Dishonored: Definitive Edition will feature upgraded visuals and the three expansion packs.
Dishonored was a commercial and critical hit, with sales exceeding Bethesda’s expectations and positive reviews across the board. the Telegraph awarded Dishonored five stars and called it a game of ‘phenomenal craft that revives the spirit of the thoughtful and elegant action game’.
Bethesda has also showcased new releases Fallout 4 and Doom ahead of E3 2015, taking place in Los Angeles this week.
