Gareth O'Callaghan has hit out at RTE radio bosses for their recent schedule changes to 2fm.

Former Westlife singer Nicky Byrne will host a new weekday, mid-morning show from 11am.

And Larry Gogan is moving to a new two hour show on Saturdays and Sundays with The Larry Gogan Show.

Mr O’Callaghan, the 4fm DJ who worked at 2fm for much of his career until 2005, has hit out at RTE bosses.

He told listeners live on air today: "I have just been reading about it (2FM schedule changes) for the last couple of weeks, and I’m not going to mention the station, the old radio station that I used to work for, they’re going through some sort of awful mutation at the minute, it’s quite farcical".

He went on to say that; "they’re trying to woo younger listeners. Now I’m neither a comedian nor did I ever sing in a Boyband, I’m a traditional disk jockey."

"They have got too much money if you ask me".
