Forget the tango, Strictly's Flavia wants to try Irish dancing with Michael Flatley
SHE has entertained on the world stage and our TV screens with her sizzling dance moves and tantalising tangos.
But Strictly Come Dancing star Flavia Cacace counts traditional Irish dance among her favourite routines.
And she also told how she would love to team up with the Lord of the Dance himself, Michael Flatley.
"I actually did some Irish dance classes when I was younger in school, but I haven't done much since then," Flavia told the Herald.
"I have been a fan of Irish dancing since seeing a documentary on Michael Flatley. I think he is amazing, so I'd love to get a chance to experiment and do something on Irish dancing. I think that it is an incredible and complicated form of dance."
Set in 1940s Hollywood, the show is full of Argentine tangos, musical theatre and fancy footwork, and it will run at the theatre for one week from March 4.
Even for a trained dancer like herself, Flavia insisted that Irish dance was among the hardest forms to nail down.
So she has no doubt that Irish dancers would be able to master a seductive tango in a relatively short time.
"I think that Irish dancers are very talented and would definitely be able to pick up an Argentine tango quite easily because the leg and knee movements are quite similar," she said.
This will be Flavia's third time back in Dublin with her dance partner and I'm A Celebrity star Vincent Simone.
"I think we are staying in apartments near the theatre and we are dancing every night, but we will have some time off to explore.
"Myself and Vincent are so used to each other now, it's like second nature," she said of her long-running dance relationship with the cheeky Italian.
For his part, Vincent is looking forward to returning to Ireland, but he is a familiar visitor to these shores after striking up a friendship with former Westlife singer Kian Egan during their time in the jungle on I'm A Celebrity.
"I was in Sligo over Christmas with one of my children," Vincent told the Herald.
"We went for a meal and I met his little son Koa, so we had a beautiful time."
