Stars join Firth in King's Speech

Monday November 16 2009

Helena Bonham Carter, Guy Pearce, Derek Jacobi, Timothy Spall and Michael Gambon have all joined Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush in the cast of The King's Speech.

Jennifer Ehle has also joined the line-up of the movie, reports Variety.

The film, directed by Tom Hooper, follows the young King George VI as he takes the throne after predecessor Edward abdicates.

George is reluctant to take on his new role and turns to a speech therapist, with whom he forms a bond as he leads Britain into war against the Nazis.

The movie, produced by Ian Canning, Emile Sherman and Gareth Unwin, has started shooting in the UK.
