Scrooge feels squeeze in new Christmas Carol
Wednesday November 04 2009
HEARTTHROB Colin Firth revealed how he and Jim Carrey had to squeeze themselves into skin-tight spandex bodysuits to make the new Disney film 'A Christmas Carol'.
The two actors also told of the humiliating poses they had to strike before filming each scene and described how much pressure there was on them because of the way the film was made. American funnyman Carrey (47) plays Charles Dickens's miserly Scrooge in the film, while Firth (49) plays Fred, his cheerful nephew. The 3D film, made by 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?' director Robert Zemeckis, uses performance capture -- a technical process which records actors' movements and expressions and turns them into animation.
Zemeckis's movies 'Polar Express' and 'Beowulf' were also made in this way.
Firth, who donned period clothing for 'Pride and Prejudice', said he was deprived of dressing up on this latest cinema outing.
'A Christmas Carol' is out on November 6.
