Gary Oldman could be playing a villain again in Motor City

Thursday February 02 2012

Gary Oldman could be returning to his villainous roots in new film Motor City.

The Oscar-nominated actor - who stars as hero George Smiley in Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy and police Chief Commissioner Gordon in The Dark Knight Rises later this year - is in final negotiations to star in the revenge thriller, The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog reports.

Mamma Mia! star Dominic Cooper and The Rum Diary's Amber Heard are playing the lead roles in the movie, about a small-time crook who is framed and sent to prison, only to take revenge years later to win back the woman he loves.

Gary would play the criminal kingpin who has control of her.

Motor City is being directed by Albert Hughes, who worked with Gary on Book Of Eli, in which he also played the baddie.

Filming is due to begin in April in Berlin.
