Tuesday January 31 2012

Rooney Mara is in talks to star in Steven Soderbergh's thriller Side Effects.

The Oscar-nominated Girl With The Dragon Tattoo actress is set to step in for Blake Lively in the lead role, after Michelle Williams, Emily Blunt and Imogen Poots were also linked to the part, according to Deadline.

Rooney would be playing a troubled young woman who develops a "dangerous love triangle" between her lawyer (played by Jude Law) and her husband (Channing Tatum), who has recently been released from prison.

Catherine Zeta-Jones also appears in the upcoming psychological drama.

Filming on Side Effects is set to begin in April.

Rooney - who is expected to reprise her role as Lisbeth Salander for David Fincher's Girl With The Dragon Tattoo sequels - will soon start work on Terrence Malick's Lawless, co-starring Ryan Gosling and Christian Bale.
