Jedward to take on Hobbit roles?

Wednesday December 09 2009

X Factor rejects John and Edward are apparently being lined up to play a pair of dwarves in a new movie.

The Irish twins - whose dubious vocal ability sparked controversy on the TV talent show - have been offered the chance to screen test for parts in The Hobbit, reports The Sun.

A source said the filmmakers "need twins for these parts and they have a perfect look for the film".

Producer Peter Jackson, the man at the helm of upcoming drama The Lovely Bones, is said to be "keen to see if Jedward have any acting ability".

It's thought the 18-year-old duo might be in the frame to play dwarf twins Fili and Kili in the movie, which is rumoured to be starring Ron Perlman, Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis.

The Hobbit, which is being directed by Guillermo del Toro, is being split into two parts. The Hobbit: Part I is expected to be released in 2011 and the second instalment will follow in 2012.
