A British filmmaker has been given a revealing glimpse of Carla Bruni's life as France's first lady and her romance and whirlwind marriage to the President, Nicolas Sarkozy.
In a documentary to be screened this week, the French president is shown nuzzling and embracing Ms Bruni, a 41-year-old former model.
Career
Ms Bruni, whose former lovers include Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton, is also shown talking about her new musical career, declaring: "No more sex, no more drugs, only rock 'n' roll."
The documentary, titled 'Somebody Told Me About... Carla Bruni', will be shown in France on New Year's Day and in Britain next month.
It was made by George Scott, a filmmaker from Ayrshire, in Scotland.
In it, the former model describes how she met Mr Sarkozy (53) in November 2007 at a dinner party which was hosted by a mutual friend.
The couple married the following February.
"I don't know what he has, but he has something very protective that I have never found before," Ms Bruni says of the French president.
Normal
She argues in the programme that Mr Sarkozy was acting like a normal middle-aged man by divorcing then remarrying.
The documentary shows her recording at her Paris home on a July afternoon when Mr Sarkozy arrives in a suit.
