Damon to pass Bourne on to Denzel?

Matt Damon says there may be more Bourne movies

Matt Damon has said there could be more Bourne movies, but he might not star in them.

The 39-year-old actor - who played amnesiac assassin Jason Bourne in the Bourne trilogy - told The New York Daily News he may pass on the role to Russell Crowe, Denzel Washington or Ryan Gosling.

Matt said: "I think the way to extend the franchise is to create a 'Bourne identity' that different actors can take on - I could pass the identity to Russell Crowe or Denzel Washington or Ryan Gosling."

But the Oscar-winner added that if director Paul Greengrass - who helmed the Bourne Supremacy and the Bourne Ultimatum - was on board, he would be too, saying: "If Paul Greengrass does it and we have something to say, definitely."

However Greengrass, who directs Matt in new movie Green Zone, was less keen, saying: "I'm out of it. I'm going to try other things."

In Iraq War thriller Green Zone, Matt plays a soldier fighting to expose the Bush administration's weapons of mass destruction deception. His character, Roy Miller, is based on real-life Army chief warrant officer, Richard (Monty) Gonzales, whose Mobile Exploitation Team was charged with finding the WMDs during the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Amy Ryan co-stars as a reporter, based on Bush water-carrier Judy Miller, and Greg Kinnear plays the sly Bush operative who leads her to believe an Iraqi general has confirmed the existence of WMDs.
