Charles takes on Tesco movie role

Wednesday February 03 2010

Veteran heartthrob Charles Dance is to star in Tesco's first movie.

The Gosford Park actor will feature alongside Trudie Styler - wife of rock star Sting - in the adaptation of the Jackie Collins novel LA Connections.

The film - to be called Paris Connections - is based around the fashion world in the French capital and has now begun shooting.

Dance plays a Russian millionaire and top fashion businessman who gets caught up in a spate of murders during Paris Fashion Week.

It is the first of a series of films which production company Amber Entertainment is making in a deal with supermarket Tesco.

The retailer is co-producing the movies and will have the exclusive rights to sell and market the films.

Award-winning director Harley Cokeliss will bring to life the novel by Collins, who is also one of the producers.

Along with three more "Connections" movies, negotiations with popular authors like Phillip Pullman and Jacqueline Wilson are taking place as part of the deal.

Paris Connections will be available at Tesco from May.
