Bullock at fundraising premiere

Friday November 20 2009

Sandra Bullock hit the red carpet in New Orleans for a special fundraising premiere of her latest film, The Blind Side.

The Hollywood actress and studio Warner Bros co-hosted the event, which was held to raise funds for a New Orleans high school flooded by Hurricane Katrina.

Sandra, who has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Warren Easton High School since the storm in 2005, said: "We're investing in a lot of things that we think need preserving."

The star, who recently bought a mansion in New Orleans' historic Garden District, added: "I'm a great supporter of New Orleans and its architecture."

Sandra, who was wearing a floor-length striped gown, signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans before taking her walk down the red carpet outside the Prytania Theatre.

She said New Orleans was the perfect place to premiere The Blind Side, which is based on a book written by city native Michael Lewis. Based on a true story, the book and film follow a poor teenager taken in by a family and recruited by a major college to play football.

The Blind Side also stars country artist Tim McGraw, Kathy Bates, Lily Collins and Jae Head.
