AGEING action stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone have posed together for a photograph in their hospital beds.
The two Hollywood actors were shown apparently waiting to receive treament for injuries sustained from movie stunts.
Cynics suggested the picture itself was a stunt as the pair have a film called The Tomb to promote.
It showed the two sexagenarians on neighbouring hospital gurneys.
Schwarzenegger, 64, had his arm in a sling. Stallone, who is a year older at 65, was shown hooked up to an IV drip with a syringe protruding fom his neck.
Schwarzenegger posted the picture on the internet and said: “After all the action, stunts and physical abuse shooting The Expendables 2 and The Last Stand, it was time for a little tune up on my shoulder.
“Look who was coincidentally waiting in line behind me for his shoulder surgery. Now we’re ready for another round of great times and action when we shoot The Tomb.”
It was announced earlier this week that the two actors, who competed for the title of Hollywood’s biggest action star in the 1980s, had both signed up for the film. It will feature Stallone as the designer of a prison and Schwarzenegger as an inmate.
Schwarzenegger previously had a cameo role in Stallone’s action film The Expendables and also appears in its upcoming sequel.
He is currently finishing work on The Last Stand, his first starring role since returning to acting after serving as California’s governor.
