ORGANISERS of the Electric Picnic warned fans about an increasing number of counterfeit tickets flooding websites and being offered for sale on social media.
Two camping tickets for the three-day event in Stradbally, Co Laois were on sale at €1,000 last night.
Although the seller was offering to meet buyers to hand over the tickets, promoters stressed the event was a sell-out: “We urge people not to take any chances by purchasing tickets being offered for sale on these sites. A huge amount of very convincing forgeries have gone into circulation since the festival sold out.
“Make no mistake: the fake tickets will be detected on arrival at the festival and the holders will not be let in.
“Avoid disappointment: do not buy tickets from unofficial sources,” said a statement on the Electric Picnic website.
Organisers stressed that no more official tickets will be released for sale in advance of the festival.
“The festival is completely sold-out,” they added. Bjork, Fatboy Slim and The Arctic Monkeys are among weekend headline at the three day music and arts event, which is expected to be attended by 35,000 people.
