St Patrick's Day - today's events in Dublin

9.30am: Gannon Cup boat race starts at O'Connell Bridge on the River Liffey.

10am: Funfair opens at Custom House Quay.

'Dearc 150', marking 150 years of the RDS Taylor Art Award with a major retrospective exhibition of Irish Art, at the RDS.

NOON: Main parade begins at Parnell Square.

The Ark, a cultural centre for children on Eustace Street in Temple Bar, opens its doors for visitors.

2PM: A walking tour entitled "In the Footsteps of St Patrick" leaves the tourist information office on College Green.

Tours of the National Gallery of Ireland begin.

3PM: Main parade finishes on Patrick's Street.

Harp recital at the National Museum of Ireland.

3.30PM: Band and street performances start at South King Street, St Stephen's Green Luas stop and Kildare Street.

8PM: The Kilfenora Ceili Band (pictured left) play the National Concert Hall.
