His show 'At Large' has made the shortlist of nominees for Best Comedy Show at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, which have been dubbed the "Oscars of Comedy".

Previous Irish comedians to receive the honour include Dylan Moran and Tommy Tiernan. Eight shows have been nominated for the prestigious prize.

"I am over the moon," Porter told the Irish Independent.

"I couldn't believe it when I heard. The judges had been in to see the show 18 times. I had no idea, which is a good thing or I would have been too nervous."

Tickets for Porter's show have been selling like hot cakes, with fellow funny men Jack Dee, Seann Walsh and Steve Coogan all attending the show.
