Four Weddings star Simon Callow announced as special guest at Kilkenny Arts Festival
Actor Simon Callow has been announced as a special guest at the 43rd Kilkenny Arts Festival, which opens on Friday August 5.
Callow, who took the role of Mozart in Peter Shaffer’s Amadeus, will read specially chosen selections from Mozart’s letters at two gala concerts during the festival.
Hi readings will be interspersed with the Mozart’s symphonies performed by the Irish Chamber Orchestra, with acclaimed conductors Gábor Takács-Nagy and Jörg Widmann.
“Callow’s unique ability to summon up the spirit and personality of Mozart is set to be an unmissable addition to Ireland’s largest-ever celebration of his miraculous music,” Kilkenny Arts Festival said in a statement.
Callow is widely known for his roles in films including A Room with a View, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Shakespeare in Love, Phantom of the Opera and is currently playing The Duke of Sandringham in the television series Outlander.
