It’s a matter of days before music extravaganza Electric Picnic kicks off and there’s plenty to keep festival goers entertained from burlesque dancers and ‘Love/ Hate’ gangsters to pony loving songstresses and red neck weddings.
The line up this year with ‘Hey Ya!’ hit makers Outkast, power ballad queen Bonnie Tyler, Pet Shop Boys and Beck all taking to the stage.
But it’s often the smaller tents where the best memories are made. Dingle’s renowned Other Voices festival is travelling up from the hallowed grounds of Saint James’ Church to the leafy forests of Laois.
“We hope the spirit will travel from west Kerry to the heart of the country,” creator Philip King explained.
The popular “Trailer Park” theatrical enclosure, made up of reconditioned retro trailers, has increased in size and includes a barber shop, a rockabilly makeover parlour, ‘My Big Fat Red Neck Wedding’ theatre show and a ‘Foot Hospital’ offering moshers and rockers the chance to plunge their tired feet into a hot seaweed bath.
Keep your autograph book handy as rumour has it several international rugby players and U2 frontman Bono may be heading down.
