A MAJOR dance competition is kicking into action on the shores of the Killarney Lakes.
More than 5,000 Irish dancers will take to the stage over the course of the 2014 An Comhdhail World Dancing Championships.
The eight-day competition will take place in the INEC auditorium at Killarney Convention Centre from April 12. Over 400 teams will take part in 43 events.
An Comhdhail, the organisation behind the World Irish Dance Championships, made headlines in 2007 when they banned girls under the age of 13 from wearing make-up.
"There will be lots of jigs and reels and plenty of craic," Carol Carberry, chairperson of An Comhdhail, said.
