Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson and Badly Drawn Boy are among the headline acts at this year's Galway International Arts Festival.

To mark its 40th festival, the organisers have launched one of their most ambitious programmes to date.

This year's event, which takes place from July 17-30, includes four world premieres, as well as a series of talks, visual arts displays, music and street art.

A series of talks on power will feature sessions with Colm Tóibín, former CNN journalist Rebecca MacKinnon, RTÉ correspondent Caitriona Perry and former US deputy assistant secretary of state Bennett Freeman.
