CLAIRE Danes is worried her son might “impale” himself on her Emmy Award.
The actress was named Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for the second consecutive year last night.
Claire was thrilled to be honoured again for her role in Homeland, but joked the winged accolade could prove a danger to her nine-month-old child Cyrus.
“We have a tiny person now. He’s still on East Coast time, so our curfew has to be earlier than it ever has been before. I’m hoping he’s not going to impale himself on the thing,” she laughed to Variety after winning the award.
Claire went on to say she feels “truly blessed” to have landed such an interesting role.
“This show is challenging in all the right ways,” she smiled. “It’s a good gig.”
She also discussed the hotly-anticipated season three of Homeland, which starts in the US at the end of the month.
Claire explained that her character Carrie Mathison, who has bipolar disorder, is in a difficult place as the show returns to the small screen.
“[It’s a] really strong season,” she revealed. “I’m a little on the crazy sauce in the beginning of the season. It’s kind of sad this season, it’s a little mournful.”
The 34-year-old actress stars alongside Damian Lewis in Homeland and wants to continue working with him for years to come.
“I hope it will last forever,” she said.
When Damian, who plays Nicholas Brody, was quizzed on his future with Homeland, he replied: “I’ll see how long I have left.”
