Celebrity lessons: RTÉs new series on family
RTÉ's The Family Project is returning for a new series.
The new series of the popular RTÉ show features a load of new ideas and challenges to help parents to engage with their kids in fun and exciting ways.
This is the second series of the popular program and features six new mentors who help families all around the country.
The format is the same; a celebrity mentor picks a family and completes a project that has a special significance to their family with them. The program is all about working together and seeing what you can achieve when you work together.
There is a whole load of new challenges this year aimed to encourage parents and families around the country to engage with teach other in different and creative ways.
Each celebrity has different skills to bring to the table. In episode one, author and former Mountjoy governor John Lonergan works with the Menton family in Inchicore, to help 15 year old Aaron realise his dream of becoming a tour guide.
Last year we saw people such as Yvonne Keating and Hurler Tony Griffin helping families and this new season has an whole new crew including author Alice Taylor, manager Davy Fitzgerald and Musician John Spillane.
The projects vary depending on the family and the project they have chosen. Some projects centre around learning new skills such as writing a book about their granddad or pushing themselves to try new things such as trying to write a song about getting back into education.
The families are all very different and come from lots of different backgrounds from Kilbarrack to Rialto and Clare to Kilkenny and all take on really unique challenges.
The second series of The Family Project will start tonight at 8pm on RTÉ 1.
