Turn up for the books a novel idea

EAGLE-EYED bookworms might spot a stray novel in an odd place this Thursday. But should you find one on a bus or a park bench, don't leave it there -- it's yours to take home.
To celebrate World Book Day, free books will be left in public places as part of a "book crossing" event -- the practice of clearing out those heaving shelves and giving away the ones you've finished with.
Come Thursday, some of our top writers will be out and about leaving signed copies of their works in public places for lucky readers to find. Novelist Cathy Kelly, pictured right with Sophie Walsh (4) and Emer O'Connor (4), got the ball rolling yesterday in St Stephen's Green by doing just that.
