TRADITIONAL musician Sharon Shannon was joined by a surprise pair of trad enthusiasts yesterday as they came together to announce details of the latest festival to hit the country.

Models Michelle McGrath and Andrea Roche got into the festival spirit as they launched Ceili Culture, a weekend of special events taking place in the Meeting House of Dublin's Temple Bar on Saturday and Sunday August 14 and 15.

The festival aims to celebrate the roots and future of Irish music, arts and culture.

Among the performers lined up for the weekend include trad band Kila and singer Paddy Casey, who will be joined by a surprise guest for a one-off gig at 8pm on the Saturday.

The following day will see accordion player Sharon Shannon, Pogues lead singer Shane MacGowan, singer Damien Dempsey and flute player Conor Byrne take to the stage.

Tickets are priced at €15 for the first night of music and €35 for the second nights performance.
