BESTSELLING novelist Sheila O'Flanagan has wed her long-term partner after over three decades together.

"After more than 30 years together, The Man and I got married," joked the author. Ms O'Flanagan married Colm McCashin in the Civil Registry Office in Dublin yesterday.

The author of more than 20 novels has enjoyed a diverse career after starting out as a banker and becoming the first female dealer in the Central Bank. Ms O'Flanagan met her statistician partner on the badminton court.

When she was writing her first novel while also trading shares, she and her partner would meet up for about half an hour at weekends.

"I don't know how I found the time to work and write, although I do think that when you desperately want to do something, you somehow make the time," she said.
