MAEVE Binchy's final novel, 'A Week In Winter', is set to be her biggest ever Christmas blockbuster.

Publishers Orion said sales of the book, released posthumously last month, are up almost 50pc on the late novelist's second-last title, 'Minding Frankie'.

Spokeswoman Louise Page said: "Sales of 'A Week In Winter' are 47pc up on Maeve's last novel published in 2010, and Orion had their biggest ever first week sales at Amazon for a novel by her."

Binchy, who died last July, had a long and successful career that saw her books translated into 30 languages with sales topping 40 million worldwide.

'A Week In Winter' is set in a country house hotel on the west coast of Ireland and tells the stories of its staff and guests.
