Ryan Tubridy pens another book on JFK's 1963 Ireland visit - this time for children
John F Kennedy's 1963 homecoming seems to be an endless source of inspiration for broadcaster Ryan Tubridy.
In 2010 he produced an RTE documentary about the trip and the following year his book JFK in Ireland: Four Days That Changed a President hit the shelves.
Now Tubridy has penned a children's book all about the US president's visit to our shores.
Patrick and the President will tell the story of Kennedy's trip to Ireland and his visit to his ancestral home in Dunganstown, Co Wexford, through the eyes of a young Irish boy.
The book has been illustrated by PJ Lynch, who has won numerous awards in Ireland and abroad.
"It has always been a dream of mine to write a book for children," Tubridy said.
"This is a magical moment for me. The fact that PJ Lynch is illustrating the story makes it even more special.
"The story of JFK's visit to Ireland is profound and colourful and even more so through the eyes of my fictional friend Patrick, who gets caught up in the excitement of the event.
"If children can enjoy this postcard from the past and maybe want to learn more about Irish history, I think we'll have achieved something," the host of The Late Late Show added.
Tubs has been working on the story for some time. No date has been set for the release of the new book, which is being published by Walker Books.
Meanwhile, The Late Late Toy Show auditions drew to a close yesterday.
"The Toy Show elves are very happy with what they have seen," Ryan said.
