The American film critic and documentary maker Michael Henry Wilson has been studying his friend Clint Eastwood for years. His new book, Eastwood on Eastwood, is a rare and intimate recounting of the veteran actor and director's long career put together with his full co-operation.
The large format 240-page book is the culmination of a 30-year-long collaboration between Eastwood and Wilson, giving a fascinating insight into how Eastwood works, what inspires him and why he makes the choices he does.
As well as the wonderful on-set pictures, there are lengthy question-and-answer sessions in which Eastwood talks about subjects close to his heart: jazz and cinema, Carmel in California (where he served as mayor), and Hollywood. The book includes many photographs from Eastwood's private collection, notably from his youth and his early career.
