Looking Beck at Ireland

These remarkable photographs survived two fires and a flood, then were thankfully entrusted to Patrica Haselbeck Flynn for safekeeping by her father on his deathbed.

Now, the rest of us can get to see the world through the lens of her grandfather, Limerick-based photographer Franz S Haselbeck. Some of his photographs will be on display at the RDS in Dublin this weekend as part of the Irish Antique Dealers Fair.

For a complete look at a long- disappeared Ireland, ranging from early tourism, studio portraits, the Irish Volunteers, British military, the RIC, Garda Siochana and the construction of the Shannon Scheme, check out 'Franz S Haselbeck's Ireland -- Selected Photographs', €24.99, published by Collins Press.
