Dawn to rise for Michael's Molly good evenings
Michael Colgan is clearly not one for Pinteresque pauses. Last weekend he was in Montenotte in Cork for a dinner with friends; a few days later he was in Galway for a theatre conference and by Friday he was back behind his desk at the Unicorn... sorry, I mean The Gate on Parnell Square. The artistic director of the Gate Theatre is, of course, one of the two men in these lands who can wear a moustache with chic and panache -- the other being the esteemed editor of this paper, Aengus Fanning.
Colgan was even busier than usual last week putting the finishing touches to his masterplan of putting on Friel's Molly Sweeney at his theatre. And in another Michael masterstroke, he has persuaded Dawn Bradfield to return to the boards to play the lead. There will, of course, be a few leading ladies at the opening night on June 28, chief among them Alison Doody, Andrea Corr (with her husband Brett Desmond) and Sharon Corr (with hubby Gavin Bonnar). Also expected that evening are Gate-goers Kathleen Watkins with Gaybo, and Mary Finan with Ibbo (Jorgensen.)
It promises to be a Molly good evening
