Copies of the new 'Bridget Jones' novel by Helen Fielding, mistakenly included a chunk of a memoir by David Jason

BRIDGET Jones fans got a little more than they were expecting with her new book – 40 pages of David Jason's autobiography.

Fans had eagerly awaited publication of Helen Fielding's final instalment but yesterday readers reported getting to the middle of 'Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy' only to find chunks of the memoir, 'My Life', by David Jason, inset.

A spokeswoman for publishers Vintage said: "A printing error has been detected in some of the very early copies of 'Bridget 'Jones: Mad About The Boy'. Copies printed on one day have given readers an accidental preview of David Jason's autobiography. We are taking steps to remove these copies."

Fielding's goodbye to Briget was released along with the book by Jason (who played Only Fools and Horses' iconic character Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter) yesterday – one of the biggest dates in the publishing calendar.

In interviews to launch the book, Fielding (55) said chunks of 'Bridget Jones' had also been printed in 'My Life', but the publisher declined to reveal how many copies were affected.
