artemis find his nice side . . .
The really big one in children's books this summer will be the new Artemis Fowl book from Eoin Colfer, which is published next Thursday. There's a big secret about this one and no advance copies have been issued, so we can't tell you too much about it.
It's titled Artemis Fowl and the Atlantis Complex and we can tell you that in this one Artemis has become nice! Hard though that may be to believe, it seems that his foul (or Fowl) criminal ways have finally got the better of him.
In this book, criminal mastermind Artemis has summoned an elite group of fairies to Iceland. But when he presents his invention to save the world from global warming, he seems different. Something terrible has happened to him. Yes, he's actually become nice.
The fairies diagnose Atlantis Complex (that's multiple-personality disorder to you and me) -- dabbling in magic has damaged Artemis's mind. And now the subterranean city of Atlantis is under attack from vicious robots and nice Artemis cannot fight them.
Can Holly get the real Artemis back before the robot probes destroy every human and life form? All will be revealed next Thursday, when bookshops will be swamped by Fowl fans, adding to the 18 million copies of Eoin Colfer's books sold worldwide to date. -- S O'N
