BESTSELLING crime author PD James has revealed she has started writing her next book, at the age of 93.
"Let's hope there will be one last one to come. I shall try anyway," she told an audience at Trinity College in Dublin last night.
James was talking to Irish crime novelist Declan Burke about her life-long passion for Jane Austen and her latest novel 'Death Comes to Pemberley' – written as a sequel to Austen's classic 'Pride and Prejudice', published 200 years ago.
She said she regularly re-reads Austen's novels and the books saw her "through many a rather dreadful night".
James was born in Oxford in 1920 and didn't begin writing until she was in her late 30s.
She said she finds writing crime novels "reassuring" and enjoys "bringing order out of disorder".
