Why are people putting ice cubes in their breakfast cereal?

It seems there are two types of people in this world: one camp who add ice cubes to their bowl of cereal, and those who think the phenomenon is downright bizarre.

Those who advocate the addition of ice to their bowl of Coco Pops, Cornflakes or Special K insist that it is a "life changing" experience.

Placing a few cubs of ice into the milk keeps it cold, instead of letting the milk adjust to room temperature while you make your way through the cereal.

It all started when a California based Twitter user named Corrina posted a picture, questioning whether she was the only one to take her bowl of Lucky Charms extra chilled.

It seemed she wasn't alone as users backed her in solidarity. And it turned out this breakfast hack has been doing the rounds for years - with actress and singer Jennifer Hudson declaring her love for ice-chilled cereal back in 2009.
