No need to sit through RTE's (admittedly excellent but really rather long) four part series The Rising when you have a 10 minute stop motion film telling the same story - with LEGO.
Freedom: A 1916 Story is a short stop motion film from Createschool which tells the story of the 1916 Rising using LEGO characters and props and covers all the major events with a little dash of wit.
The Two Chimneys production was commissioned by Wicklow County Council as part of their 1916: 2016 Commemoration programme and took nine moths to make.
It features historian Pat Liddy as the voice of the main character and Liddy also ensured the film was historically accurate.
Singer Leslie Dowdall also wrote a song for the film, Time to Be, which features on the opening credits.
