You think the exams were bad? A Leaving Cert student now has a poet’s name tattooed on his behind after losing a bet.
Adam O’Sullivan made a bet with his friend that if renowned Irish poet Paul Durcan came up on the Leaving Certificate English paper, he would get the poet’s name tattooed on his bottom.
Speaking to Cork’s 96fm Opinion Line, the young man said he had only studied one poet for the exam.
“Well there’s eight poets you can study in the Leaving. I only did one and I did him well,” he said.
Adam studied Paul Durcan and was 'kind of banking on him' to come up.
“I was down in the library with one of the lads from school and I told him if Paul Durcan came up I’d get the tattoo.”
If Durcan comes up I'll get a tattoo of his name on my ass this weekend and that's a promise— Adam O Friendzone (@adamosullivan5) June 9, 2016
“I put it up on Twitter and it spread around like wildfire,” he said.
Adam said there was a massive reaction in the exam hall when students noted the contemporary Irish poet's name on the paper.
"Everyone in the exam centre went and looked for his name straight away and started laughing,” Adam said.
“The next night I went away and got the tattoo done."
Photos of Adam getting the tattoo done have gone viral, showing the poet’s name and a heart inked onto his behind.
Luckily, Adam says, his parents found the funny side of it.
But this isn’t the first time the student has lost a bet for a tattoo.
“I lost a bet as well to get two birds on my hip,” he added.
