Wish you were here - Postcard finally arrives an incredible eight years after being sent
A postcard sent way back in October 2007 took a staggering eight years to arrive at its intended destination.
Breda O'Shea from Tralee in Kerry was on holidays in Tenerife with her aunt and her daughter eight years ago when she penned a postcard to her mother, Berry O'Shea back in Tralee.
"Having a ball here in Tenerife as ye already know!
"Weather is beautiful and food and entertainment very good too!
" I will be home before the postcard," she wrote.
The postcard was franked with a stamp promoting the upcoming Zargoza Expo in 2008.
Breda told the Irish Daily Mirror that her mother received the item in the post last month and at first was confused as to who could have sent it.
"She couldn't think of anyone she knew down there.
"Then when she looked down and read the names she was speechless.
"This was eight years later.
"She couldn't believe it," she said.
