A video meant to capture a six-year-old boy's roller coaster experience took a chilling turn after the ride's seatbelt became unhinged moments after taking off.
The Latham family were enjoying a day out at a Texas amusement park when they endured one of the most terrifying moments imaginable.
Little Kaysen and his father Delbert took to the Mousetrap roller coaster for the second time when the child's seatbelt came apart mid-ride.
As the roller coaster jerks forward and plunges down the track, the little boy starts to slip in his seat, moments before disappearing out of frame.
His quick-thinking father grabbed his son up from the floor, pulled him back into the seat and held him there for the remainder of the ride.
"I gotcha," Latham is heard telling his terrified son on a Facebook video that went viral. "You're fine. I promise. There are no more big hills."
Afterwards, the shocked father said he told the ride attendant about the seatbelt incident and, to his surprise, the man claimed he knew that "happened sometimes".
