A Jack Russell whose vanishing act sparked a frantic search clearly just wanted a ‘clean break’ from his owners – after he was found tucked up comfortably in their dishwasher.

The 13-year-old canine’s unexpected, and brilliant, hiding place had left his panicked owners flummoxed, as they texted their son to ask for his help in finding the disappearing pooch.

But after a 20 minute search, he was spotted sitting quietly and quite relaxed in the dishwater.

The image of the Jack Russell tucked up peacefully amongst the family’s dirty dishes has since gone viral after it was shared on Reddit by StummDoggBillionaire.

“My dad texts me and says my dog went missing, 20 minutes later he sends me this,” said the post.

The adorable picture has been viewed some 2 million times in less than 24 hours.

One user said he understood the poster’s pain, saying: “My cats do this all the time. The damn thing only needs to be open a few minutes.”

While other joked: “I guess that dish soap couldn't get Spots out as well as it claimed.”
