If this isn't a testament to how people have more cash to splash nowadays, we don't know what is.

The Ideal Home Show is on in the RDS this weekend, and there's one item that's selling surprisingly well.

It's not a couch, a fridge or a bed - it's a €6,000 toilet.

Soaks Bathrooms, located in Belfast, are selling the Toto Washlet at the show and have already seen 10 bought within the last two days.

The Toto Washlet has heated seats that automatically lift when you come near, as well as a self-cleaning function.

With the touch of a button, the Toto Washlet will also wash and dry you once you've finished your business.

"Seventy per cent of toilets in Japan have these features," the director of Soaks, Wayne Lloyd told Independent.ie.

"It's incredible that people are now spending the same amount of money on a toilet as they would on a small car."

"We are amazed at how popular they are at the show with customers driving from all over Ireland to see it working. We have taken orders for over €80,000 of Washlets over the past 2 days," said Wayne.

Toto Washlets range from around €1,500 to €12,000 with varying features and benefits and are available exclusively at Soak Bathrooms in Belfast.
