Sky News Australia has been widely mocked online for mistaking Sinn Fein for a person, who is also a member of the DUP.

The gaffe appeared on Sky News Australia's Facebook page on Thursday night.

A post suggested that Sinn Fein was a man and a member of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP).

The post related to an article in which Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams warned British Prime Minister Theresa May that any agreement between the Tories and the DUP would be in breach of the Good Friday Agreement.

The mistake was noted and the post has since been deleted.

But not before a few eagle-eyed Facebook users picked up on it.
