It's the item of clothing that the clumsy among us have always dreamed of.

A New York fashion company have launched a jacket and shirt for men that both cleverly repel spilt liquids, meaning beer stains will be a thing of the past.

Dropel Fabrics, which trades as Kelby & Co, are the brand behind the innovative fabric, which according to bloggers feels like cotton.

Clothing engineers used a thin layer of a material called polymer in order to craft the unique protective top layer.

The retailer has said that while the finished product is not 100% stain resistant it does facilitate most spilled liquids to roll off.

However, the futuristic garments don't come cheap, with the shirt retailing at $90 and the jacket costing $178.

The label have announced that they plan to collaborate with other brands in order to increase their market share.
