Irish girl's own father can't tell daughter and complete identical stranger from Sweden apart
An Irish student is the latest person to find her doppelganger after meeting a Swedish teen so alike, her own father admits to not being able to tell the pair apart.
Shannon Lonergan (21) from County Kerry discovered her lookalike after being contacted by Sara Nordstrom (17) from Sweden.
The mirror image pair found each other via Twin Strangers – a website which seeks to link up people to identical strangers.
After finding Shannon’s photo, Sara said: “My friends actually thought the picture of Shannon was me.”
Stunned by the similarities, the two decided to meet face to same face in Dublin.
The pair both share the same blonde hair and facial features which Shannon said “frightened” her when she met Sara, adding that even her father did a double take at how similar Sara looked when they met up in person.
“When my dad first saw myself and Sara he did not know where to look.
“His facial expressions were hilarious and showed how shocked he was.
“He honestly needed a moment to see who was who.”
Sara and Shannon share identical long blonde hair, parted on the same side, oval faces and full mouths.
“'When I opened the door and saw Sara standing there, literally my heart jumped into my mouth.
“I saw Sara’s face I felt my butterflies disappear. A weird sense of happiness took over when I realised I had actually met my doppelganger. I could not stop smiling,” the 21-year-old Kerry native said.
“The scariest thing was how our noses, mouths, lips and eyes were so incredibly alike.
“As I spent more time with her I noticed how our expressions and ways of moving were exactly alike.”
The similarities do not end there Shannon admitted.
“We both competed and succeeded in our chosen sports, both our families’ owned furniture shops, and during our meet up we both described a bathroom by referencing Harry Potter... lots of small quirky things!”
She continued: “The scariest thing was how our noses, mouths, lips and eyes were so incredibly alike.
"It frightened me a little bit, but in a good way. As I spent more time with Sara I noticed how our expressions and ways of moving were exactly alike.”
Twin Strangers said they posted a picture of the two girls on Facebook and “flooded” by comments of how similar they looked.
A spokesman for website said: "It sure is happy holidays after another incredible doppelgänger match was brought to us this festive season.”
