Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner has been facing backlash online for comments he made claiming women that are beautiful and funny are "impossible to find".

Eisner, who was CEO at Disney from 1984 to 2005, made the comments during a conversation with actress Goldie Hawn at the Aspen Ideas Festival.

"From my position, the hardest artist to find is a beautiful, funny woman. By far." he said.

Although seemingly aware of the controversial nature of what he was saying, he added, "They usually — boy am I going to get in trouble, I know this goes online — but usually, unbelievably beautiful women – you being an exception – are not funny.’

Goldie Hawn, an exception to the rule, said she is funny because she felt like an "ugly duckling" when she was growing up.

Eisner agreed, "You didn't think you were beautiful".

He explained his thinking thus, "I know women who have been told they’re beautiful, they win Miss Arkansas, they don’t ever have to get attention other than with their looks. So they don’t tell a joke.

"In the history of the motion-picture business, the number of beautiful, really beautiful women — a Lucille Ball — that are funny, is impossible to find."

Needless to say his comments went down like a lead balloon online.
