Forget prawn cocktail, cocktail sausages and roast beef... this Irish couple has raised the game when it comes to wedding food.

There's nothing more satisfying than a Tayto crisp sandwich. Crunchy cheese and onion crisps, packed into a white Brennan's bread sandwich, smeared with thick, creamy butter... it's what we get out of bed for.

But it seems the humble crisp sandwich has been elevated to lofty new heights and is now making an appearance at wedding receptions.

A couple who got married in Laois this weekend treated their guests to a DIY crisp sandwich cart and let's be honest, we can't imagine anything more perfect at 11pm when sustenance is required for a Rock the Boat dance-off.

The photo was taken by wedding and party DJ Lloyd Bracken, who was taking care of the wedding celebrations at Abbeyleix Manor hotel.

It's not the first time the crisp sandwich has been been spotted at a wedding reception.

Last August, wedding planners Miller and Lamb shared a photo on Twitter of an Athlone couple's lunch packs for guests.

Ciara Rigney and Philip Smyth treated their guests to bacon baps and Tayto sandiwches, packed neatly into little lunch bags, at their Hodson Bay reception.

The bride attached little stickers to the bags which read: "Crisp Sandwich (The Bride's favourite) Just assemble & enjoy xxx"

Some people just get it.
